Level 2 is the paper most Haryana candidates sit first, and it is the one where the 90 shared marks are easiest to underestimate, because the subject section looks manageable enough to coast on.

Who Level 2 is for
Level 2 qualifies you to teach classes VI to VIII. The usual route is a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject along with a B.Ed or an equivalent teacher training qualification, though a D.El.Ed route exists in some cases. Requirements move between notifications, so confirm against the current HTET eligibility criteria rather than an older circular.

The split is the same as Level 3. Your subject is 60 marks, and 90 marks are the shared sections. A candidate who prepares only the subject is capping themselves at 60 plus whatever they can scavenge, which is well under the 90 they need.
No negative marking, 150 minutes, 150 questions. That works out to one minute per question with nothing left over, which is why untimed practice misleads people so badly.
A realistic way to work through the TGT paper
- Sit the full 150 in one 150-minute block first, before you read anything about the paper. The cold score is your baseline and you only get one.
- Score it against the key and write down four numbers: pedagogy out of 30, languages out of 30, general studies out of 30, subject out of 60.
- Attack the weakest of those four, not the one you enjoy most. For most TGT candidates the weak number is languages or Haryana GK, and both respond quickly because the syllabus behind them is small.
- Come back to the same paper three weeks later and see which of the four numbers moved.
Four numbers beats one number. A total of 88 out of 150 tells you that you failed. The four-way split tells you what to do on Monday.

HTET TGT 2023 papers: common questions
Only 12 subjects are listed. Why are there fewer than at PGT level?
Level 2 covers classes VI to VIII, where teaching is organised into broader subject groups. Science and Social Studies each cover at Level 2 what splits into separate Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography papers at Level 3. Twelve is the full 2023 list, not a partial upload.
I am a Science graduate. Do I sit the Science paper or a specific subject paper?
At Level 2 you sit the combined Science paper. There is no separate Physics or Chemistry option until Level 3. That catches out candidates who specialised narrowly at degree level, because the TGT Science section spans material outside their honours subject.
My TGT score is stuck below 90 even though my subject section is strong.
Then your subject section is not the problem and more subject revision will not move the total. Score the four sections separately. A candidate at 55 out of 60 in the subject and 30 out of 90 elsewhere needs the 90, and that is a completely different study plan from the one they are probably following.
Can I use the TGT paper to prepare for PGT?
For 90 of the 150 marks, yes, since pedagogy, the languages and general studies are shared. The subject section will not transfer. Using the other level’s paper is a cheap way to get fresh questions on the shared sections once you have exhausted your own level.
How different is the 2023 paper from what I will sit next?
Structurally, not different at all. The part-wise split above has been stable across years, so the pacing and section balance you learn from the 2023 paper carry over. Content coverage should come from the current syllabus, because individual topics do shift.
