HTET Previous Year Solved Question Papers 2023 with Answer Keys – HTET EXAM
Download the HTET Old Question paper. Skim it. Recognize maybe half the questions. Feel quietly reassured. Close the tab.
That is how most candidates use a previous year paper, and it does almost nothing for their score. All 34 HTET 2023 papers are on this page, every subject across the three levels, each one sitting beside the official answer key BSEH published on 18 December 2023. Downloading them takes a minute. What you do in the 150 minutes after you open one is the part that decides whether your next attempt clears 90.
HTET previous year solved question papers 2023: what you get here

The 2023 exam ran on 2 and 3 December 2023. For anyone preparing now, this is the most recent set where the paper, the provisional key and the final revised key all exist in public, which makes it the cleanest year to practise on.

Two rows there matter more than the rest. There is no negative marking, so a blank answer is a pure loss while a guess costs you nothing. And the bar is 90, not 75, which quietly catches out candidates who assume an eligibility test passes at half marks.
HTET PGT 2023 question papers with answer keys (Level 3)
Level 3 is the PGT paper, for teaching classes IX to XII. Twenty-one subjects were held in December 2023. Find your subject, take the question paper from the middle column, and the answer key sits in the column next to it.

HTET TGT 2023 question papers with answer keys (Level 2)
Level 2 is the TGT paper, for classes VI to VIII. Twelve subjects ran in 2023. The general sections are identical to the PGT paper, so a candidate attempting both levels is really preparing two different 60-mark subject sections and one shared 90.

HTET PRT 2023 question paper with answer key (Level 1)
Level 1 has exactly one paper, and people regularly write in asking where the rest are hiding. There is no subject specialisation at PRT level, so everyone sitting for classes I to V writes the same common paper. One paper, one key, and that is the complete Level 1 set for 2023.

How to use these papers so they actually change your score
Reading a solved paper is revision. Sitting one is diagnosis. Only the second tells you something you did not already know.
- Sit the whole paper in one unbroken 150-minute block, at roughly the time of day your shift falls. Splitting it across two evenings produces a score that means nothing.
- Mark it yourself against the answer key, and mark it harshly. A question you guessed and got right goes in the wrong pile in your notes, because you will not be that lucky twice.
- Sort every wrong answer into one of these: you did not know the content, you knew it but misread the question, or you knew it and ran out of time. Those are separate problems and only the first is fixed by studying more.
- Count the marks you dropped in Child Development and Pedagogy before you look at anything else. For most candidates this section leaks more marks than the subject section does, and it is the cheapest one to repair.
If you only have time for one thing on this list, do the sorting step. Candidates who repeat a paper without diagnosing why they lost marks tend to reproduce the same score.
What the 2023 papers show about the pattern
The structure has held steady for years and 2023 followed it exactly.
| Part of the paper | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Child Development and Pedagogy | 30 | 30 |
| Hindi (15) and English (15) | 30 | 30 |
| Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Haryana GK (10 each) | 30 | 30 |
| Concerned subject (Level 2 and Level 3) | 60 | 60 |
| Total | 150 | 150 |
At Level 1 the final 60 marks are Mathematics and Environmental Studies rather than a chosen subject.
Here is the part candidates underrate. Ninety of the 150 marks have nothing to do with your subject. Pedagogy, the two languages, reasoning, arithmetic and Haryana general knowledge decide the majority of the paper, and they are the same 90 marks whether you teach Physics or Punjabi. A Chemistry postgraduate who scores 50 out of 60 in Chemistry and 40 out of the other 90 does not qualify. That combination shows up every year.
Haryana GK is only 10 questions. Small enough to feel ignorable, cheap enough that ignoring it is a mistake, and the one section where a candidate from outside Haryana is genuinely behind unless they prepare it on purpose.
Go deeper by level
Each level has its own page with the full download table, the eligibility rules that apply to it, and guidance written for that specific paper rather than for HTET in general.

HTET 2023 papers: questions candidates actually ask
Are these the original BSEH papers or coaching reproductions?
These are the papers as they were held in December 2023, paired with the answer keys BSEH released. They are not retyped question banks or coaching-made mocks. That matters because reproduced papers routinely carry typos in the options, and you end up memorising a wrong answer without ever knowing it.
I scored 78 out of 150 on the 2023 paper. Should I be worried?
Not on its own. The first move from untimed study to a timed paper almost always produces a drop, and 78 on a real paper is a more honest number than 110 on a mock. What matters is the split. If most of your losses sit in pedagogy and the languages, you can move 15 marks in a few weeks because that content is finite. If they are spread evenly through the subject section, that is a longer repair.
The answer key marks an answer I am sure is wrong. What should I do?
First check whether you are reading the provisional key or the final one. BSEH publishes a provisional key, opens an objection window, then releases a revised final key, which for the December 2023 exam came on 18 December 2023. Answers do change between the two. For a past paper you are only practising on, take the final key as correct and move on rather than losing an evening to it.
How many years of past papers should I actually solve?
Three or four full papers of your own level, sat properly under time, beats ten skimmed. Start with 2023 because it is the most recent complete set with a final key, then work backwards. Candidates who get through eight papers casually usually score below those who sat four seriously.
I am appearing for PGT. Is there any point opening the TGT or PRT paper?
Yes, for 90 of the 150 marks. Pedagogy, Hindi, English, reasoning, arithmetic and Haryana GK are common across the levels, so a TGT paper hands you a fresh set of those questions you have not already seen. Skip its subject section.
Does an HTET qualification expire?
No. HTET qualification is valid for life. The certificate makes you eligible to apply for teaching posts in Haryana government schools. It is not an appointment by itself, and the recruitment process still follows.
