HTET 2026 Certificate: Validity, Download Process & Eligibility

HTET 2026 Certificate: Validity, Download Process & Eligibility

A lot of confusion around the HTET certificate traces back to a rule that changed in 2021 and that many candidates, and even some coaching material, have not fully caught up with. Here is what actually applies now.

How Long Is the HTET Certificate Valid?

Since December 2021, following a decision by the central government that applies to Teacher Eligibility Test certificates across states, the HTET certificate is valid for a lifetime from the date of issue. Before that decision, certificates carried a seven-year validity. If you qualified HTET before December 2021 and your seven years had not already expired at that point, your certificate also became lifetime-valid under the same rule; it did not need to be reissued or renewed for this to apply.

How to Download Your HTET Certificate

  1. Log in at bseh.org.in or htet.eapplynow.com with your registration number and date of birth.
  2. Open the result or certificate section for the HTET cycle you appeared in.
  3. Download the e-certificate, usually issued as a PDF alongside or shortly after your scorecard.
  4. Keep both a digital copy and at least one printed copy, since recruitment applications later may ask for either format.

Does the Certificate Expire If I Do Not Use It Right Away?

No, not under the current lifetime-validity rule. You can qualify HTET now and use the same certificate for a teacher recruitment cycle years later, as long as the recruiting body’s own rules at that time still accept HTET as a valid eligibility test, which they generally do.

Does a Lifetime-Valid Certificate Guarantee a Teaching Job?

No. The certificate only confirms that you have crossed the HTET qualifying bar. It does not guarantee a vacancy, a rank, or an interview call. Actual recruitment happens through a separate process where your HTET certificate is a required document, not the deciding factor. See our HTET 2026 Selection Process guide for how recruitment actually works after you hold a valid certificate.

Which Level’s Certificate Do I Need for Which Post?

Your Level 1 (PRT) certificate is generally used for primary-teacher posts, Level 2 (TGT) for upper-primary and middle-school posts, and Level 3 (PGT) for senior-secondary posts, matched further by your subject at the PGT level. Holding a certificate for one level does not make you eligible for a post that requires a different level, so keep this distinction in mind while shortlisting recruitment notifications to apply for.

Frequently Asked Questions

My old HTET certificate says it is valid for seven years. Is it now invalid after seven years?

No. The lifetime-validity rule from December 2021 applies retroactively to certificates that had not already expired at that point, so the printed seven-year line on an older certificate no longer limits its validity.

Can I get a duplicate certificate if I lose my original?

Yes, since the certificate remains available for download from your registration login on the official portal. Log in again rather than treating the physical copy as your only proof.

Do I need a fresh HTET certificate for every recruitment cycle?

No, one valid, lifetime certificate can be used across multiple recruitment cycles, unless a specific recruiting body’s notification explicitly asks for a certificate from a particular, recent HTET cycle.

Is the HTET certificate accepted outside Haryana?

HTET is a state-level TET, so its primary use is for Haryana teacher recruitment. Whether another state accepts it depends entirely on that state’s own recruitment rules, so check the specific state’s notification if you plan to apply outside Haryana.
