One thing worth flagging before you scroll: CTET wasn’t conducted in 2025 at all. The exam went from December 2024 straight to February 2026. So “last 5 years” in practice means five cycles, not five calendar years. If a competitor site is showing you a 2025 paper, that paper doesn’t exist.

How to actually use five years of question papers (not just download them)

Here’s where most candidates waste the resource. They download all five years, open the first PDF, solve it once, check the answer key, and move to the next paper. Five papers, five sittings, done. That’s not preparation — that’s just reading.

Do this instead: solve February 2026 first, under a strict two-and-a-half-hour clock, phone in another room. Don’t check the key until you’ve submitted your last answer. Then go through every wrong answer and ask why you got it wrong: misread the question, didn’t know the concept, or ran out of time and guessed. Those are three different problems with three different fixes, and lumping them together is why the same mistakes show up paper after paper.

Once you’ve done that for February 2026, work backward through December 2024, July 2024, January 2024, and August 2023, oldest last, not first. Here’s the logic: CTET’s Child Development and Pedagogy section has shifted noticeably toward inclusive-education and NEP 2020 scenario questions over the last two cycles. If you start with 2023 and end with 2026, you’ll spend your sharpest, least-fatigued attempt on the paper that’s least representative of what you’ll actually face.

A pattern worth knowing before you start: CDP and EVS carry the highest error rates for first-time Paper 1 candidates, almost always because the question describes a classroom scenario and asks which Piaget or Vygotsky stage it reflects, not a straight definition question. If you’ve only memorized definitions, you’ll get these wrong even though you “know the topic.” Solve at least three CDP sections from three different cycles before test day, specifically hunting for that scenario-based phrasing.

Why solve previous papers instead of just re-reading NCERT

Every CTET aspirant has been told to “cover NCERT thoroughly.” True, but incomplete. NCERT gives you the content. It doesn’t tell you how CBSE turns that content into a 150-question paper you have to finish in 150 minutes, with roughly a minute per question and no time to reread anything twice.

That’s the actual value of a solved paper. Not the answer key: the timing. Sit for one full August 2023 Paper 1 and you’ll notice something within the first thirty questions: the Language sections (I and II) eat more time than you budgeted because they’re comprehension-passage heavy, not vocabulary drills. Candidates who’ve only drilled grammar rules in isolation run short on the last twenty questions of Mathematics because they overspent on Language. You don’t learn that from a textbook. You learn it from a clock running out on you once, in practice, where it doesn’t cost you a year.

There’s also a scoring detail that changes how seriously you should take this. Per the official CTET notification on ctet.nic.in, qualifying marks are 60% for General category and 55% for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD), and since December 2021 the CTET certificate is valid for a lifetime. CBSE dropped the earlier 7-year validity window. That means clearing it once, properly, is worth the extra two or three papers of practice now instead of sitting the exam again in three years because you scraped through at 61%.

CTET Paper 1 vs Paper 2 – quick reference

Two things candidates get wrong about this table constantly. First, there’s no negative marking, so a guess costs you nothing; leaving a question blank in the last five minutes is strictly worse than guessing. Second, CBSE runs CTET across multiple shifts and normalises the scores across sets. That’s exactly why you’ll see four to nine different Set codes for a single cycle above. The questions are shuffled and occasionally swapped between sets, but the difficulty is calibrated to be equivalent, so solving Set A instead of Set D from the same cycle isn’t giving you an easier run.
