HTET PGT Old Sample Question Papers 2023 – HTET PGT Previous Year Question Paper
A Physics postgraduate walked out of the 2023 Level 3 paper certain he had cleared it. He had scored 48 out of 60 in Physics. He finished on 84 and missed the cut by six marks, all of them lost in pedagogy and the language sections he had never opened. Download HTET Old Paper – HTET PGT Old Papers.
That is the PGT trap. Your subject is the part you are confident about, and it is worth 60 of 150. Every paper on this page is part of the HTET previous year solved question papers 2023 with answer keys collection, which holds all three levels in one place.

Who Level 3 is for
Level 3 qualifies you to teach classes IX to XII in Haryana government schools. The broad requirement is a master’s degree in the subject you are appearing in, together with a B.Ed. The exact percentage and relaxation rules change between notifications, so check the current one rather than an old cut-off you half remember. The HTET 2026 eligibility criteria page carries the present requirements.
How the PGT paper splits
| Part of the paper | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Child Development and Pedagogy | 30 | 30 |
| Hindi (15) and English (15) | 30 | 30 |
| Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Haryana GK (10 each) | 30 | 30 |
| Concerned subject (Level 2 and Level 3) | 60 | 60 |
| Total | 150 | 150 |
Sixty marks are your subject. The other 90 are identical to what a TGT candidate faces. Read that again if you have been spending all your preparation time on the subject section, because it is the single most common reason strong postgraduates fail a teaching eligibility test.
There is no negative marking, so every one of the 150 boxes should be filled before you leave. Candidates still hand in papers with blanks. On a 90-mark cut-off, four blind guesses is roughly one free mark, and free marks are not a thing you turn down at this bar.
Working through a PGT paper properly
- Take the 60-mark subject section first when you sit the paper at home, under 60 minutes. If you cannot finish your own subject in that time, the general sections were never going to save you.
- Then sit the remaining 90 in 90 minutes on a separate run, and score the two halves separately. One number for 150 marks hides exactly the information you need.
- Compare your pedagogy score against your subject score. If pedagogy is lower, that is where the next month goes, however wrong it feels.
- Repeat the same paper after three weeks. A score that has not moved means you reviewed the answers rather than learning the content.

HTET PGT 2023 papers: common questions
My subject is not in the list of 21. What does that mean?
It means BSEH did not hold a Level 3 paper in that subject in December 2023, not that the file is missing. The subject list changes between years according to which posts are being filled. Check a different year on the main collection page, and check the current notification to confirm your subject is being held at all before you build a plan around it.
Can I appear for PGT and TGT in the same HTET cycle?
Yes, the levels are separate papers and candidates commonly sit more than one if they meet the eligibility for each. Practically it costs you one extra 60-mark subject section, since the other 90 marks are shared. Sitting both is often the better bet when your subject is one where few Level 3 posts open.
I keep scoring around 85 and cannot get past it. What is going wrong?
At 85 you are usually not short of knowledge, you are short of five marks in a section you have written off. Pull apart your last two papers section by section. In most cases the gap is Haryana GK, which is 10 nearly free marks people skip, or the English section, where postgraduates in Hindi-medium subjects lose marks they assume they cannot recover. Both are small, closed syllabuses.
Is the 2023 PGT paper still worth solving for the next exam?
Yes. The structure in the table above has not changed, so the paper still trains the right instincts for timing and section balance. Use it for pattern and pacing, and use the current syllabus page for content coverage, since individual topics do get added and dropped.
Should I memorise the answer key before sitting the paper?
No, and this is worth being blunt about. Reading the key first turns a diagnostic into a recognition test and you will score 20 to 30 marks higher than your real level. Sit the paper cold, then open the key.
