The HTET PGT Economics Previous Year Question Paper 2023 is the fastest way to find out where you actually stand before the real exam. Not a recreated version, not someone’s “based on the pattern” mock — the actual booklet BSEH used: Sub Code 1308, Set A, 150 questions, 48 pages, 150 minutes on the clock.
Both the question paper and the official Final Answer Key are linked below. Download them, print the paper if you can, set a timer for 2 hours 30 minutes, and treat it like exam day. That’s the only way a previous year’s paper actually tells you anything.

What’s Actually in This 150-Question Paper
HTET PGT Economics isn’t a 150-question Economics test. It’s a composite paper, and Economics is just one section of it — the biggest one, but still one of four.
Break the 150 marks down and you get roughly this: Child Development & Pedagogy, Hindi and English (one unseen passage each, paired with language-pedagogy questions), and a general-studies block of Haryana GK, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Then the Economics-specific section — worth 60 of the 150 marks — covering Statistics for Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development.
That 60-mark section is where this paper earns its keep. The other 90 marks barely change from subject to subject across PGT papers — the Economics block is the part you can’t practice anywhere else.
How Many Questions Are in the HTET PGT Economics Paper?
150. All objective, one mark each, no negative marking. Around 60 of those 150 come from Economics itself; the rest cover Child Development & Pedagogy, Hindi, English, Haryana GK, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude — the same general-studies block every PGT subject paper shares.
Why a Three-Year-Old Paper Is Still Worth Your Time
Here’s the thing about BSEH papers — they don’t reinvent the format every cycle. The sub-code stays the same (1308 for Economics), the mark distribution stays the same, and a lot of the question framing repeats in spirit even when the specifics change. Solve the 2023 Set A paper properly and you’ll recognise the same traps in 2026: the PPC-based numerical that looks harder than it is, the national-income question that hinges on one definition, the oligopoly-vs-duopoly comparison that trips up people who only memorised monopoly.
A paper written by a coaching institute “in the pattern of HTET” can’t give you that. This one already passed through BSEH’s own question-setting committee once.
Economics PGT Weightage: Where the 60 Marks Actually Go
Want the full unit-by-unit breakdown — what’s inside Statistics for Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development, and how BSEH weights each one? We’ve covered that separately in the HTET PGT Economics Syllabus guide. Worth reading before you sit this paper, not after — it tells you which wrong answers in your attempt are worth revisiting first.
PRT, TGT, PGT — If You’re New to HTET
Quick context in case you landed here before sorting out which level you’re even writing: PRT is the Primary Teacher level, open to 12th + JBT or Graduation + JBT. TGT — Trained Graduate Teacher — is Level 2. PGT, the one this paper is for, is Level 3, for Post Graduate Teachers (lecturers), and needs a postgraduate degree plus a B.Ed. recognised by the NCTE.
HTET PGT Pay Scale After You Clear This
Worth knowing what you’re actually working toward:
| Level | Basic Pay | Grade Pay |
|---|---|---|
| PRT (Primary Teacher) | ₹34,800 | ₹4,200 |
| TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) | ₹47,600 | ₹4,400 |
| PGT (Lecturer) | ₹67,000 | ₹4,800 |
Both figures carry further allowances on top, set by the Haryana government’s pay commission structure.
FAQs
Is this the official HTET Economics answer key?
Yes. It’s BSEH’s Final Answer Key for Set A, 2023 — not a coaching-centre solution sheet. Where the board revised an answer during the objection window, that revision is already reflected.
What’s the qualifying percentage for HTET PGT?
50% for General category candidates. SC, BC and differently-abled candidates get a 5% relaxation — a 50% cutoff drops to 47.5% and a 45% cutoff drops to 42.75% — per the Supreme Court’s 2011 ruling in P.V. Indiresan vs Union of India.
Will the same questions repeat in HTET 2026?
Not word for word. But the sub-code, the section weightage and a lot of the underlying concepts repeat every cycle — which is exactly why solving the real 2023 paper under timed conditions is worth more than another “predicted pattern” mock test.
